The Role/ Location
Savills Building & Project Consultancy is one of Ireland's leading property consultancy teams, providing specialist technical advice across acquisitions, development, ownership, occupation and disposal of property assets. Our clients include investors, developers, landlords and occupiers across a wide range of sectors.
As part of our continued growth strategy, Savills is seeking to establish and expand its dedicated Quantity Surveying service offering in Ireland. This newly created role presents an exciting opportunity for a Chartered Quantity Surveyor to play a key role in developing and shaping a new service line within a well-established and highly regarded property consultancy business.
Our Chartered Quantity Surveyors will work alongside Building Surveyors, Project Managers and wider consultancy teams to provide expert cost management and commercial advice throughout the property lifecycle. Services include Cost Planning, Reinstatement Costs, Procurement Advice, Tendering, Contract Administration Support, Development Monitoring, Cost Control, Value Engineering and Final Account Negotiation.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative and growing team, working on a diverse portfolio of commercial property and construction projects across Ireland.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Management & Quantity Surveying
Prepare cost estimates and cost plans throughout project stages.
Provide feasibility studies and development appraisals.
Undertake value engineering exercises and cost optimisation reviews.
Prepare bills of quantities and tender documentation.
Assess contractor tenders and provide procurement advice.
Monitor project budgets and cash flow forecasts.
Prepare and negotiate final accounts.
Provide cost reporting and commercial advice to clients.
Prepare reinstatement cost assessments for insurance valuation purposes.
Provide advice to clients regarding property reinstatement values and insurance-related cost considerations.
Project & Contract Support
Support project teams throughout procurement and construction phases.
Monitor variations and change control processes.
Assess interim valuations and contractor payment applications.
Prepare contract documentation and associated commercial reports.
Assist in contract administration and project delivery functions.
Coordinate with Building Surveyors, Project Managers and external consultants.
Monitor project progress from a commercial and financial perspective.
Client Advisory
Provide strategic commercial advice across development, refurbishment and fit-out projects.
Act as a trusted advisor and key client contact.
Deliver cost reports, presentations and project updates to clients.
Support investor, occupier and developer clients in achieving their project objectives
Business Development
Support pitches, tenders and fee proposals.
Build and maintain strong client relationships.
Identify opportunities for additional instructions and cross-service collaboration.
Contribute to the continued growth and development of the Quantity Surveying service offering.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential
Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS or MSCSI).
Minimum 10 years' post-qualification experience.
Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement routes and cost management principles.
Experience delivering pre-contract and post-contract quantity surveying services.
Excellent numerical, analytical and commercial skills.
Strong report writing and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and industry-standard cost management software.
Full clean driving licence.
Desirable
Experience across commercial, office, industrial, retail or mixed-use developments.
Knowledge of Irish construction contracts and procurement practices.
Experience in development monitoring and lender reporting.
Familiarity with BIM-enabled project delivery environments.
